Who we serve -
ARES supports a number of public service and public health agencies. We
also provide community support for events like parades, etc.
- Public Safety
-
DeKalb ARES has a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the DeKalb
County Emergency Management Agency. We are called on to assist the EMA
with damage assessment after an event and to pass messages to other agencies
who are involved in the same event. We also support OHS-GEMA at the
statewide level through the ARES/GEMA MOU.
- Public Health
-
We support several hospitals in the DeKalb County area. Among
those who look to DeKalb ARES for radio operators are: Children's Healthcare
of Atlanta, Crawford-Long Hospital and Grady Memorial Hospital. We
also work with the DeKalb Board of Health for mass dispensing drills and
events as needed.
- Community organizations
-
The City of Stone Mountain uses ARES for July 4th parade
coordination. We provide the United Methodist Church of Stone Mountain
with coordination of their annual Wesley Walk for Others around the Stone
Mountain loop. Each year the March of Dimes sponsors a walk around the
Stone Mountain loop as a fund-raiser. We assist them with keeping
track of walkers on the route.
We also join with other ARES groups to support the annual Children's
Healthcare Christmas Parade, the ING Marathon and the Summer Special Olympic
Games at Emory University.
